About this plugin
Have Audio's Nørdic Bass Clarinet represents a methodical approach to sampling the instrument's extended range. Recorded by clarinetist Achille Succi, the library captures conventional articulations alongside less common techniques - slap, low frullati, and cinematic textures designed for film scoring contexts. The two-layer mixing paradigm, pairing microphone captures with a processed "Warped" layer, provides useful tonal flexibility and allows for both realistic and stylized interpretations.
The plugin's architecture centers on functional sound design capabilities rather than novel synthesis. Time Warp stretches time-based articulations while enabling tempo manipulation and drone generation. A 32-step, four-octave arpeggiator handles note sequencing across five modes. The effects chain includes 82 convolution reverbs alongside a dedicated delay algorithm, supplemented by six additional processors - EQ, compression, saturation, chorus, phaser, and Leslie. Four macro controls allow parameter linking across multiple effect modules.

The sample import system justifies the platform approach. Users can load up to 48 loops or samples with automatic tempo detection and DAW synchronization, transforming Nørdic Bass Clarinet into a hybrid sampler for custom material. Envelope controls on imported audio expand integration possibilities.
This tool suits composers, arrangers, and producers seeking bass clarinet textures without session musician coordination. Its strength lies in providing playable, documented articulations rather than exploiting esoteric production techniques. The effects processing is competent but standard. For practitioners prioritizing authentic low woodwind character with flexible sound design options, the instrument delivers practical utility within its defined scope.
