About this plugin
Octane presents a methodical approach to 808 drum synthesis and processing, drawing directly from analog hardware sources to inform its sonic foundation. Rather than modeling circuits, Minimal Audio recorded extensively from a vintage TR-808 and contemporary emulations, then refined those recordings into a comprehensive sample library scaled for modern production contexts.
The collection comprises 1,607 audio files across six primary categories: kicks, snares and claps, hi-hats and cymbals, percussion, effects, and loops. Each sample exists at 24-bit / 96 kHz resolution, providing sufficient headroom and detail for detailed editing and layering without the quality degradation common to lower-resolution libraries. The 2.4 GB footprint remains manageable while maintaining sonic depth across all frequency ranges.

Octane serves producers working across trap, hip-hop, electronic, and contemporary pop production where 808-derived percussion anchors the mix. The extensive kick and sub kit selection proves particularly valuable for frequency-specific foundation work, while the tuned sub collection offers direct harmonic integration with melodic elements. The one-shot format emphasizes flexibility over preset solutions, placing responsibility and creative control directly in the user's hands.
The library's technical execution reflects consistent attention to clarity and translational quality. Samples cut through dense arrangements without requiring aggressive EQ, a distinction that separates genuinely useful drum libraries from collections optimized primarily for isolation listening. For engineers accustomed to sculpting drums through careful selection and processing rather than relying on heavily processed presets, Octane provides dependable source material with legitimate analog pedigree.
