About this plugin
Microtech represents a focused approach to drum sound design, offering a curated collection of processed drum samples rather than a generative plugin. The library comprises 105 audio files across multiple categories: 32 loops, 16 kicks, 17 snares, 12 hi-hats, 12 percussion one-shots, and 12 sound effects, all delivered at 24-bit/44.1kHz resolution. The samples reflect Minimal Audio's methodology of synthesizing source material through modular and software synthesis, then processing the results using digital resynthesis and distortion techniques to achieve a distinctly glitchy, abstracted character.
The sonic palette is deliberately unconventional. Rather than pursuing pristine acoustic drum simulation, Microtech prioritizes textural complexity and rhythmic unpredictability. The processing imparts digital artifacts and harmonic distortion that lend themselves particularly well to electronic music, industrial production, and experimental beat-making. The loops function as compositional starting points rather than rigid backings, containing enough tonal variance to integrate seamlessly into existing arrangements without requiring extensive editing.

This library suits producers already comfortable with synthesis and sound design who seek inspiration within structured constraints. Experienced engineers will recognize that the value lies not in replacing traditional drum samples but in augmenting production palettes with genuinely distinct sonic material. The collection functions effectively as a texture bank for layering atop conventional drums or as a foundation for more exploratory work. At 59 MB, the footprint remains manageable while providing adequate variety across fundamental drum categories. Microtech occupies an intentional niche within sample libraries - minimal, purposeful, and sonically coherent.
