About this plugin
McDSP's SPC2000 represents a mature refinement of the CompressorBank lineage, delivering multi-stage compression architecture that departs meaningfully from conventional single-compressor design. The Native v7 implementation offers three distinct configurations (two, three, and four stages) with serial and parallel routing possibilities, enabling compression topologies that would otherwise require hardware racks or complex plugin chains.
The sonic foundation rests on McDSP's established CompressorBank algorithms, which prioritize transparent gain reduction across frequency-dependent compression characteristics. Standard controls - threshold, ratio, attack, release, and output gain - operate alongside proprietary Knee and Bite parameters that shape compression articulation in ways most alternatives don't address. Multiple peak detection modes expand tonal possibilities beyond what single-circuit designs provide, while analog saturation modeling adds harmonic coloration when needed.

This tool suits mastering engineers and mix specialists who require nuanced control over dynamic processing. The parallel routing options prove particularly valuable for New York-style compression techniques or for blending aggressive gain reduction with unaffected signal. Four-stage configurations enable creative combinations: parallel multi-band approaches, serial chains with progressively different characteristics, or hybrid topologies that would otherwise demand multiple instances.
The v7 update brings Apple Silicon optimization and modernized interfaces without altering the core architecture. Zero-latency operation confirms suitability for tracking and mixing workflows. Real-time analyzers provide feedback on compression behavior, useful for verifying settings match intention.
Among serial/parallel compressor tools, the SPC2000 occupies a practical middle ground - more flexible than single-stage options, more straightforward than full multi-band processors, and grounded in proven algorithms rather than novel experimentation.
