About this plugin
The 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip consolidates McDSP's respected EQ and compression engines into a single, modular processing environment. Built on the foundations of the award-winning 6020 and 6030 plug-ins, it provides three insertable bays where any of 28 modules can be loaded, reordered, and auditioned in real time. This architecture proves particularly valuable in mixing scenarios where signal flow decisions directly impact tonal balance and dynamic control.
The plugin excels at full-spectrum channel processing. Core offerings include sophisticated EQ designs spanning vintage and contemporary topologies, alongside compression and gating modules that handle everything from transparent gain riding to aggressive dynamic shaping. Newer additions like the S671 saturation module add harmonic coloration with adjustable tone control, while the Moo-D tube overdrive and D-100 distortion modules provide intentional character for tracks requiring aggression or grit. The Mid Emphasis Filter (MEF-1) occupies a niche role, isolating and enhancing midrange content without the typical trade-offs of standard shelving EQs. The E404 reissues FilterBank functionality with parametric precision.

The Native version operates efficiently on standard CPU resources, making it suitable for larger session counts than its AAX DSP counterpart. Operation remains intuitive across the modular interface, supported by artist presets from established engineers including Mike Dean and Neal Avron.
The 6050 appeals to mixing engineers and producers seeking cohesive channel processing without menu diving. Its modular flexibility and sonic consistency position it as a capable alternative to traditional channel strip designs.
