About this plugin
McDSP's 6050 represents a comprehensive mixing solution that consolidates the architecture of their acclaimed 6020 and 6030 plug-ins alongside expanded processing capabilities. The plug-in provides three freely configurable module bays accepting any of 28 available processors, enabling genuine signal flow customization rather than fixed channel strip topology. This modular approach proves particularly valuable for engineers who prefer building unique processing chains rather than adapting to predetermined signal paths.
The sonic palette spans classical mixing tools and contemporary studio effects. The EQ modules derive from vintage and modern reference designs, while the compressor section covers both transparent and colored compression. Additional processing includes gates, expanders, saturation stages, and specialized filters, with real-time spectrum analyzers available on select modules for precise visual feedback during critical mixing decisions. The S671 saturation module and Moo-D tube saturation options provide distinct harmonic coloration characteristics suitable for various source material and aesthetic preferences.

Built for AAX DSP systems, the HD version leverages modern processor optimization while maintaining McDSP's signature zero-latency processing across all modules. Double precision internal mathematics and ultra-low latency algorithms ensure transparent sound quality without phase coherence concerns common in other multi-stage channel strips. The included presets from recognized mixing engineers like Mike Dean and John Feldmann provide practical starting points while the intuitive drag-and-drop interface encourages rapid experimentation.
This tool suits mixing engineers and mastering professionals seeking flexible, transparent processing with genuine character options. Its modular design and sonic versatility establish it as a serious contender among hybrid channel strip solutions that balance control with sonic integrity.
