About this plugin
Canopies represents a distinctly curated approach to hybrid sound design, drawing from the artistic vision of producer Benn Jordan to deliver a focused toolkit for contemporary composition. The expansion provides 15 carefully recorded sound sources centered on acoustic instruments - guitars, vihuelas, and kalimbas among them - captured with attention to multiple dynamic layers and unconventional articulations. Rather than attempting broad coverage, Canopies commits to depth within a specific sonic territory: organic textures enhanced by restrained synthetic processing.
The technical implementation emphasizes the interplay between acoustic fundamentals and electronic enhancement. The library's 50 presets showcase sound design that avoids both pure instrumentation and overly processed abstraction, instead occupying the generative space where organic and digital blur. This approach proves particularly valuable for producers working across genre boundaries - from experimental electroacoustic work to ambient production to contemporary scoring where acoustic grounding serves cinematic purposes.

The recording quality and layering strategy allow presets to function effectively both as standalone elements and as sources for further processing. The emphasis on tactile, percussive articulations - plucks, strikes, and unconventional playing techniques - provides material that integrates naturally into rhythmically complex arrangements without requiring extensive manipulation.
Canopies positions itself as a specialized resource rather than a generalist library. It will appeal most to established producers and sound designers seeking distinctive textural alternatives to standard hybrid instruments, particularly those comfortable with the conceptual framework Benn Jordan's work represents. The sonic character carries distinct personality, which serves specific aesthetic directions effectively while limiting utility for productions requiring neutral, versatile instrumentation.
