About this plugin
Creative Junk is a Kontakt-based percussion library that prioritizes sonic character over conventional drum sounds. Rather than pursuing the familiar palette of acoustic or electronic drums, Loot Audio sourced everyday objects - industrial heaters, bottles, filing cabinets, bouncing balls - selected specifically for their tonal properties and interactive resonance when struck as an ensemble. The result is a collection that sits somewhere between the percussive experimentalism of Tom Waits' junk drums and the tuned, melodic approach of Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris soundtrack.
The library contains 2050 samples organized across 20 instruments, with 100 multi-sampled objects capturing up to 7 velocity layers. Recorded with three microphone positions, users can access close-mic recordings for surgical control or ambient stereo pairs that preserve the natural acoustics of the cinematic recording space. This flexibility allows producers to shape whether sounds feel intimate and processed or spacious and environmental.

Creative Junk serves producers seeking textural depth beyond standard percussion libraries - those working in experimental composition, film scoring, or art music contexts where unconventional tones strengthen narrative. The improved low-velocity sensitivity ensures responsive dynamics across the full velocity range, critical for nuanced performance work.
The library's real strength lies in its curated personality. These aren't generic household sounds but carefully selected objects whose tonal character, decay, and harmonic content invite genuine musicality. For sound designers tired of conventional percussion, Creative Junk offers distinctive raw material with inherent artistic voice built into every sample.
