About this plugin
Loot Audio's Charango delivers an exceptionally detailed virtual recreation of the traditional South American stringed instrument, distinguished primarily by its sampling depth and sonic fidelity. Each of the instrument's notes was captured across multiple dynamics with 15 samples per note, yielding articulations that respond naturally to velocity and playing context. This granular approach to sampling translates into performances that avoid the repetitive character common in less densely sampled instruments.
The recording methodology emphasizes transparency without sacrificing warmth. Loot Audio employed a hybrid microphone setup blended through vintage and modern preamps, then processed through their proprietary Krystalos Audio technique to preserve harmonic complexity while maintaining clarity. The result is a top end that reads as genuinely shimmering rather than synthetic, with sufficient dynamic range to support both delicate fingerpicking passages and fuller strummed textures.

The plugin's Double feature warrants particular attention - pairing two charangos with intentional spatial separation creates dimensional arrangements that feel considerably more orchestrated than single-instrument approaches, useful for producers seeking textural depth without resorting to layering techniques.
Charango suits composers working in world music contexts, contemporary classical settings, or productions where acoustic authenticity matters. Its straightforward interface imposes minimal learning curve, making it accessible to engineers unfamiliar with the physical instrument's playing techniques. Among charango plugins currently available, this offering stands apart through its sampling density and tonal refinement, positioning it as a credible choice for discerning producers prioritizing realism over convenience.
