About this plugin
Lack of Afro Presents Jazz Crates is a sample-based effects plugin developed by Loopmasters that operates as a curated library of lo-fi and jazz-influenced audio processing tools. Rather than functioning as a traditional effects processor, it provides a collection of pre-recorded jazz instrumental elements, drum breaks, and harmonic textures that users can layer into existing tracks or use as processing sources. The plugin's core approach centers on convolution and granular resampling techniques, allowing producers to impart the sonic character of vintage jazz recordings onto contemporary material.
The sonic palette emphasizes warm, compressed characteristics typical of analog tape and warm tube-saturated equipment from the 1960s and 70s. This makes it particularly effective for producers working in lo-fi hip-hop, jazz fusion, and experimental electronic music who seek organic textural complexity without resorting to external sample manipulation. The processing chain includes subtle EQ colorations and compression algorithms derived from classic recording console topology.

Jazz Crates distinguishes itself through its curated source material - each processing element originates from professionally recorded jazz performances rather than synthesized approximations. This approach yields more naturalistic harmonic interactions than conventional convolution reverbs or impulse response loaders provide.
The plugin proves most useful for mid-level to advanced producers already comfortable with unconventional processing chains and sample layering concepts. While intuitive browsing exists, maximum utility requires understanding how different jazz elements interact with target material. Compared to standard reverb or saturation tools, Jazz Crates occupies a specialized niche - valuable for specific aesthetic goals but less universally applicable than foundational effects processors.
