About this plugin
Continuo represents Karanyi Sounds' methodical approach to cinematic texture design, positioning electric guitar recordings as the foundational material for atmospheric synthesis. The plugin ships with 18 instrument modules sourced from two distinct guitar capture strategies: Mojave recordings prioritize raw, cello-like character with natural performance artifacts, while Badlands patches deliver sharper, organ-inflected tones. Both sets span established techniques including bowing, tremolo, vibrato, and wooden stick strikes, with additional extreme timestretch material that renders a bowed guitar at 300x expansion alongside sampled Moog Subsequent37 synthesis.
The Layer Designer Engine accommodates up to four simultaneous modules, each with independent effect chains and modulation routing. This architecture allows experienced producers to construct composite textures by layering complementary timbral elements without collapsing into a single processing path. The effect rack offers standard options including EQ and vintage emulations like Leslie rotation, though the plugin's strength lies in its source material rather than revolutionary processing.

Sonically, Continuo occupies space between field recording aesthetics and orchestral synthesis. The super-large texture patches employ multiple reverb engines and eurorack-derived processing to achieve spatially diffuse backgrounds suitable for film scoring and ambient work. This approach differs from granular or spectral resynthesis tools by maintaining gestural integrity from the original guitar performances.
The plugin serves composers and sound designers requiring intricate, orchestral-adjacent textures without sample library bloat. While not a replacement for traditional orchestral libraries, Continuo functions effectively as a specialized atmospheric layer or textural enhancement tool within hybrid scoring workflows.
