About this plugin
Equinox represents iZotope's most comprehensive reverb offering to date, combining the algorithmic engines from Exponential Audio's Stratus and Symphony into a single, extensively featured plugin. Built on decades of Exponential Audio's reverb architecture, Equinox delivers both photorealistic spatial modeling and creative, experimental treatments with equal competence. The plugin excels at placing sources within convincing acoustic environments while maintaining clarity that's often compromised with traditional reverb processors.
The standout technical feature is iZotope's dynamic adaptive unmasking, borrowed from their Aurora and Cascadia platforms. This algorithm intelligently prevents reverb tail from obscuring critical elements like vocals and dialogue, addressing one of the persistent challenges in mixing with algorithmic reverb. Rather than applying static EQ, the unmasking responds dynamically to your source material, preserving intelligibility without introducing artifacts or audible processing artifacts.

The preset library of over 1250 configurations, reorganized for faster browsing with keyword-based search, provides substantial starting points across realistic and imaginative sonic territories. The underlying control architecture allows deep parameter access for engineers who need granular control over decay times, early reflections, diffusion, and character shaping.
Equinox suits post-production workflows where dialogue clarity is paramount, music mixing where spatial depth enhances production value, and experimental sound design where creative reverb becomes an instrument itself. For iZotope product owners considering an upgrade, this crossgrade option provides access to a legitimately competitive reverb plugin that stands alongside industry standards while introducing genuine innovations in unmasking technology and hybrid algorithmic design.
