About this plugin
Industrial Strength's Modern Hard Techno plugin is a drum sample and processing toolkit designed specifically for contemporary hard techno production. The collection comprises meticulously sampled and processed kicks, snares, hi-hats, and percussion elements sourced from modern hardware synthesizers and classic drum machines, paired with a straightforward interface for layering and tone-shaping.
The sonic character leans toward the punchy, distortion-forward aesthetic dominating contemporary hard techno scenes - particularly the hyperpop-influenced and industrial-leaning variants gaining prominence in Berlin and Rotterdam. Kicks demonstrate significant sub emphasis with aggressive mid-range coloration, while snares carry brittle, processed character rather than natural acoustic tonality. The plugin includes basic EQ and saturation controls, allowing producers to dial in articulation without requiring extensive sidechain engineering.

Where Modern Hard Techno distinguishes itself among comparable drum libraries is its specificity. Rather than positioning itself as a generalist drum toolkit, it acknowledges and serves the contemporary hard techno demographic directly. This focus means the sample selection skews narrow - producers seeking versatile, multi-genre drum sources will find limitations here. However, for artists working within hard techno parameters, the samples require minimal processing to achieve cohesive results.
Industrial Strength maintains solid standing in this space, though Native Instruments' Maschine library and Loopmasters' genre-specific packs offer broader flexibility. Modern Hard Techno works best as either a starting point for producers new to the genre or a supplementary source for established practitioners seeking authentic contemporary references without extensive sound design overhead.
