About this plugin
Found Keys by Iamlamprey is a sampled instrument plugin that transforms field recordings and found sounds into a playable melodic interface spanning C1 to C5. The core concept is straightforward: organic source material - processed and granulated - becomes the foundation for 15 preset patches that function as coloured leads and textural instruments rather than conventional synthesizers.
The sonic character leans toward the unpredictable. Because each patch retains the inherent noise floor and tonal complexity of its source recordings, Found Keys produces leads with natural grittiness and character that resist the clinical precision of purely synthesized alternatives. The grain structure creates harmonic richness without requiring complex wavetable manipulation. This approach appeals to producers working in experimental, ambient, and industrial contexts where timbral depth matters more than pristine reproduction.

The built-in effects - delay, reverb, and tape saturation - are modest but functional additions that extend the plugin's processing capability without introducing unnecessary complexity. The automatable interface allows real-time parameter manipulation, essential for sound design work and dynamic arrangement.
Found Keys occupies a niche between traditional sample playback and synthesis. It's most valuable for producers seeking organic texture without programming elaborate synth patches, and for engineers who want instrumental timbre that carries perceptible evidence of its acoustic origin. While not a workhorse for standard melodic synthesis, it excels when sonic character and uniqueness are primary concerns. The 15-patch limitation is restrictive for some workflows, but the quality and distinctiveness of each preset justifies the focused approach.
