About this plugin
Pro-R 2 represents a significant advancement in reverb design, building on the original Pro-R's reputation for transparent, naturalistic spatial processing while substantially expanding its sonic palette. The plugin now includes two new algorithms: Vintage, modeled after classic digital reverb units from the 1980s and 90s, excels at generating bright, extended spatial textures with a characteristically synthetic quality, while Plate emulates the distinctive metallic coloration of vintage plate reverberators, proving particularly effective on drums and vocals.
The core architecture remains rooted in clean, algorithmically-generated spaces rather than convolution, allowing for deep parameter control and a CPU footprint that scales efficiently across projects. Ducking and gating functions enable sidechain-responsive ambience, while integrated analog-style saturation adds harmonic character for those seeking less sterile results. IR import capabilities extend flexibility for engineers who want to integrate convolved impulses alongside algorithmic processing.

The standout feature is comprehensive immersive audio support, with full 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos compatibility. Pro-R 2 automatically configures itself for surround formats and provides sophisticated surround cross-feeding algorithms that create convincing three-dimensional imaging. The Speakers panel grants precise control over per-channel decay and EQ, while Surround Settings simplify balancing spatial parameters between front and rear channels without complex routing workflows.
This positions Pro-R 2 as a versatile tool for both stereo mixing and immersive production. It appeals to mixing engineers seeking reliable, transparent reverb alongside producers exploring denser textural ambiences. Among comparable plugins, it occupies a compelling middle ground: more flexible and contemporary than algorithmic classics, yet offering superior workflow and sonic clarity compared to purely convolution-based alternatives.
