About this plugin
Evolve Velvet is a sample-based synthesizer that consolidates a carefully curated library of vintage keyboards, analog synths, and acoustic instruments into a cohesive, texture-focused instrument. The sound design philosophy centers on lo-fi warmth and analog character rather than pristine fidelity, positioning it distinctly within the current market of retro-inspired synthesis tools.
The architecture revolves around a quad-layer engine where each layer accepts either one of 250 pre-loaded sources or user-imported samples, then routes through dual filters and a three-slot effects chain. The XY pad provides real-time morphing between layers, enabling smooth transitions and blended timbral spaces without the need for manual crossfading. Four macro controls - Soften, Warmth, Sway, and Haze - function as high-level tone shapers designed for immediate usability rather than granular sound design.

Modulation depth is significant. Users access envelope generators, LFOs, and XY controls via drag-and-drop assignment across any parameter, along with 16 available effects modules. This flexibility addresses both quick-preset workflows and deeper customization for sound designers.
The instrument suits producers working in lo-fi, neo-soul, downtempo, and psychedelic contexts where vintage character and sonic cohesion matter more than tonal variety. Compared to general-purpose wavetable synthesizers, Evolve Velvet trades synthesis breadth for curated source quality and streamlined workflow. The 250 factory presets, developed by Excite Audio's in-house team, demonstrate genuine musicality rather than showcase extremes, making this tool genuinely useful for sketching arrangements without extensive parameter tweaking.
