About this plugin
Eventide's Spring plugin brings authentic spring tank reverb into the digital domain with genuine physical modeling rather than simple convolution. The algorithm models the mechanical behavior of actual spring tanks - the kind that defined surf rock and vintage guitar tones - while offering parametric control impossible with hardware equivalents.
The core engine provides two tank sizes to select from, with the ability to morph between one and three individual springs in real-time. This flexibility allows users to transition from tight, percussive reflections to lush, extended decay characteristics. The dual damping controls for low and high frequency ranges enable precise tonal shaping, while an adjustable resonance parameter adds metallic character particularly useful for brightening darker sources or adding shimmer to synths and vocals.

A tube amp-style tremolo can be inserted pre or post-reverb, expanding sonic possibilities beyond traditional spring sounds. The modulation section generates subtle chorus-like effects through controlled pitch variation, preventing the reverb from feeling static. Tempo sync integration anchors decay times to your DAW's tempo, ensuring the reverb sits naturally within the mix's rhythmic context.
The Ribbon controller enables dynamic morphing between two complete settings in real-time, facilitating expressive parameter automation across multiple knobs simultaneously. This workflow advantage, combined with artist presets from Matt Lange, Nick Hook, and Nu-Trix, provides immediate starting points for exploration.
Spring excels beyond the obvious guitar applications. It works effectively on drums, strings, and vocals where that distinctive vintage character adds dimension without muddiness. Among spring reverb plugins, it offers superior parametric control while maintaining sonic authenticity that distinguishes it from more conventional algorithmic approaches.
