About this plugin
EastWest's Symphonic Orchestra Platinum represents the most comprehensive orchestral sampling library currently available, capturing the full spectrum of a professional concert hall performance with exceptional fidelity. Recorded by classical engineer Keith O. Johnson in a legitimate performance venue rather than a studio environment, the library preserves the natural acoustics and room character essential to orchestral realism.
The plugin's technical foundation centers on extensive multisampling across close, stage, and surround microphone positions, giving users precise control over perspective and ambience. The intelligent performance engine automates crucial articulation parameters including portamento, repetition, legato, and round robin reset, substantially reducing the programming overhead typically associated with orchestral mockups. The automatic release trail system responds dynamically to note velocity, creating natural decay characteristics that adapt to performance dynamics.

With over 124GB of sampled content, Symphonic Orchestra Platinum serves professional composers, film and television scorers, and serious hobbyists who require credible orchestral textures without sacrificing workflow efficiency. The library's three-time Sound On Sound Reader's Choice Award recognition underscores its sonic legitimacy within the industry.
For experienced producers, this tool occupies the premium tier of orchestral libraries, competing directly with comparable offerings from Vienna Instruments and Spitfire Audio. Its primary distinction lies in the concert hall recording approach, which yields warmer, more organic ensemble characteristics than controlled studio environments. The extensive mic routing options provide flexibility for mixing and perspective adjustment, though the learning curve reflects the library's professional scope.
