Rather than relying on speculation, EastWest collaborated with Anthony Marinelli, the synth programmer behind Michael Jackson's Thriller, to ensure sonic authenticity rooted in original production techniques.

The collection's technical foundation centers on a dual-filter architecture with modulation capabilities, a 16-step arpeggiator, and multi-mode portamento. Its interface prioritizes workflow efficiency through an FX Pad featuring four selectable macro controls that simultaneously modulate multiple parameters, balancing vintage knob-per-function design with contemporary accessibility.

What distinguishes ICONIC sonically is its treatment post-sampling. Rather than presenting direct captures, EastWest routed recordings through analog tape machines including a tube Studer J37 and re-amped signals through Studio 2 using multiple microphone positions - techniques directly borrowed from Bruce Swedien's Thriller methodology. This approach adds tape saturation and harmonic coloration that bridges vintage character with contemporary production aesthetics.

The 138GB library comprises hundreds of presets covering synth pads, strings, electric pianos, and signature lead textures.
