About this plugin
Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra Bundle represents a significant expansion of EastWest's orchestral sampling library, specifically engineered to address the sonic demands of fantasy scoring. Developed by producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, the collection combines period instruments from Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque traditions with modern orchestral doubling, all recorded in matched studio environments with consistent microphone placement.
The core strength lies in its integration strategy. Rather than treating world instruments as exotic additions to conventional orchestration, the bundle positions them as equal partners within a cohesive sonic architecture. The recordings prioritize professional articulation depth - true legato transitions, varied bow techniques, and authentic playing methods across strings, winds, and percussion. This technical rigor prevents the common pitfall of period instruments sounding disconnected from modern orchestral foundations.

The implementation within EastWest's Opus engine provides substantial workflow advantages, particularly the consistent microphone mixing paradigm that allows seamless blending between traditional orchestral sections and folk instruments. The stereo imaging remains faithful to session continuity, critical for projects requiring spatial coherence across diverse instrumental families.
Best suited for composers scoring fantasy television, AAA game productions, and feature film work where authentic period instrumentation enhances credibility without sacrificing contemporary production values. The bundle fills a specific technical gap - projects requiring medieval authenticity but demanding professional-grade sonic integration rather than supplementary texture layers.
Relative to competitors, the matched recording environment and producer pedigree distinguish it from scattered period instrument libraries. It functions less as a supplementary collection and more as a purpose-built orchestra specifically calibrated for genre-specific requirements. The investment reflects this positioning within the premium orchestral sampling market.
