About this plugin
AYAIC's Dragon Fader is a dynamics processor that approaches compression and expansion through a distinctly non-linear sonic lens. Rather than adhering to conventional attack and release paradigms, the plugin employs a characterful fading algorithm that creates smooth, musically intelligent gain reduction without the artifacts common to fast-acting compressors. This makes it particularly effective on sources where transparent dynamics control would sound clinical - vocals, bass, and acoustic instruments benefit from its organic response curve.
The plugin's technical foundation prioritizes psychoacoustic principles over textbook compression ratios. Its Dragon topology, proprietary to AYAIC, allows for simultaneous expansion and compression within a single processor, enabling surgical problem-solving on problematic transients while maintaining dynamic range where it matters. The sonic character leans warm and slightly colored, adding subtle harmonic complexity rather than stripping it away.

Best suited for mixing engineers seeking alternative approaches to standard compressors, and producers working in genres where vintage, characterful compression enhances rather than merely controls. While not a Swiss Army knife replacement for conventional limiters, Dragon Fader occupies a genuinely useful niche for those willing to explore its non-traditional workflows.
