About this plugin
Deep Waters 2 is a neural reverb plugin that generates algorithmic spaces based on spectral analysis of water recordings rather than traditional convolution or physical modeling. ZAK Sound trained neural networks on 83 field recordings of streams, rain, waterfalls, and ocean environments, extracting their acoustic fingerprints to synthesize new reverb impulses that carry water's characteristic texture and movement. The result occupies distinct sonic territory from conventional algorithmic reverbs, producing spaces with organic diffusion and harmonic complexity that evoke immersion without sounding like literal room simulations.
The plugin's second engine uses AI texture generation from natural language prompts. Users input descriptive phrases like "vinyl record inside a glacier" or "abandoned subway station at dawn," and local neural models generate corresponding reverb characteristics. This approach prioritizes imaginative, atmospheric rendering over photorealistic accuracy. Processing occurs on-device with no cloud dependency, addressing privacy and consistency concerns.

The 2D morph pad enables real-time blending between four nodes, each hosting different reverb engines or textures. This morphing capability transforms Deep Waters 2 from a static effect into an expressive performance tool, allowing drift between sonic spaces during playback rather than preset-switching.
The plugin suits sound designers, ambient producers, and engineers seeking unconventional reverb character for experimental or cinematic work. Its water-based and AI-generated textures naturally complement atmospheric production, though they may prove less useful in mixing contexts demanding transparent, neutral reverb. The 296 factory presets provide accessible starting points for exploration.
