About this plugin
Toraverb 2 is D16 Group's algorithmic reverb engine, designed from first principles rather than derived from hardware emulation or convolution. The plugin constructs reverb spaces through a dual-engine architecture, each with independent parametric EQ, giving producers granular control over early and late reflection character without the phase artifacts that plague conventional designs.
The core strength lies in its diffusion network, built on modified all-pass filter topologies that prioritize coherence across frequency ranges. This matters in practice: vocals retain clarity in dense mixes, drums don't lose transient definition, and reverb tails decay naturally without the thinning or flutter that degrades lesser algorithms. The modulation controls for early and late reflections add dimension, allowing you to push toward realistic spatial simulation or abstract ambient textures depending on context.

Two independent single-band parametric EQs - each with low shelf, peak, and high shelf modes - let you shape spectral balance per reflection engine. This approach is more surgical than global tone controls, enabling targeted sustain of specific frequencies or selective darkening of diffuse tails.
Toraverb 2 occupies a particular niche: it prioritizes sonic elegance and musical response over spatial authenticity alone. It works equally well on mix buses as auxiliary sends, handling everything from subtle room enhancement to lush, characterful space. Engineers and producers seeking a reverb that remains transparent on delicate sources while capable of generating distinctive spatial signatures will find it indispensable. It's less about replacing classic algorithmic reverbs than offering a fundamentally different approach to digital space creation.
