About this plugin
Cinesamples' World Series: Dulcimer and Zither captures the resonant character of two complementary plucked string instruments with particular attention to their harmonic complexity and sustain characteristics. The library draws from sessions at Firehouse Recording Studios in Pasadena, a facility known for exacting standards in orchestral and instrumental recording, where the source material was captured with the precision required for serious compositional work.
The dulcimer and zither present distinct sonic territories. The dulcimer's warm, mellow attack and natural decay suit harmonic beds and textural underpinning, while the zither's brighter articulation and shimmer work effectively as foreground elements or rhythmic counterpoint. Both instruments exhibit the subtle frequency shifts and sympathetic resonance characteristic of acoustic string instruments, which the sampling approach preserves effectively.

The interface prioritizes workflow efficiency without sacrificing playability. Controls remain intuitive enough for rapid iteration while offering sufficient depth for detailed sound sculpting. The samples emerge well-balanced and naturally processed, reducing the mixing burden on sessions already constrained by CPU overhead.
This library addresses a specific gap in modern composition toolkits. While dulcimer and zither appear occasionally in world music libraries or general orchestral collections, having dedicated, professionally recorded implementations allows composers to move beyond textural garnish into genuine melodic and harmonic statements. The sonic quality sits comfortably alongside current professional standards, making it a legitimate alternative to sourcing these instruments through other means. For film, television, and game composers seeking authentic acoustic color with minimal setup friction, this collection delivers practical value.
