About this plugin
Drums of War 2 represents a refined approach to cinematic percussion sampling, distinguishing itself from its predecessor through methodical instrument isolation and layering architecture. Rather than pursuing maximum density in single hits, Cinesamples recorded individual percussion sources and constructed ensemble patches through multiple takes of the same instruments, creating a dimensional quality that mimics genuine ensemble performance without sacrificing control.
The library spans both conventional and unconventional percussion, from tabla and taiko to hang drum and kissing fish, each captured with attention to resonance and harmonic character essential for film scoring. The inclusion of both individual instrument patches and multi-tracked ensemble variants provides producers with granular mixing flexibility - a crucial advantage when scoring requires both intimate detail and wall-of-sound impact. Frame drums, djuns, and shime daikos benefit particularly from this dual-patch structure, where ensemble renderings demonstrate how these instruments interact acoustically.

Technical implementation via Kontakt Player ensures broad accessibility without requiring the full software investment, while NKS encoding integrates seamlessly into Native Instruments workflows. The sonic character leans toward orchestral cinema rather than world music authenticity, positioning the library squarely within the Hans Zimmer production lineage that prioritizes dramatic impact and tonal blending.
Drums of War 2 suits composers and sound designers prioritizing orchestral percussion textures for visual media, particularly those who value mixing transparency alongside cinematic weight. It occupies a specific niche - less experimental than specialty world music libraries, more focused on usability than purely academic sample collections. For projects requiring convincing ensemble percussion without the session logistics of live recording, this library delivers practical sonic depth.
