About this plugin
BOOM Library's Cinematic Metal Construction Kit offers a methodical approach to designing metallic impacts for film and television. Rather than delivering finished presets, this collection prioritizes raw material and creative control, providing 321 source files that expand to 3,672 individual sounds across 12.5 GB.
The sonic foundation consists of heavily recorded metal interactions - doors, containers, structural elements, and miscellaneous percussion captured at professional quality. Each source exists in 6 to 12 variations, with dual pitch versions pre-processed from 192kHz masters down to 96kHz. This dual-pitch approach reflects a practical workflow consideration: pre-pitched variants maintain fidelity across frequency ranges while reducing processing overhead during mixing sessions.

The construction kit methodology distinguishes this from conventional sample libraries. Rather than curated impacts ready for placement, you're given components for layering and manipulation. The stereo width technique mentioned in the documentation - panning hard left and right variations to thicken impacts - reflects standard mixing practice for drums and guitars, adapted here for sound design purposes.
This approach suits sound designers and editors who value flexibility over immediate solutions. Composers working in DAWs will find efficient access to source material without extensive preprocessing. However, the product assumes competency in impact design and audio processing; it's not optimized for rapid template-based workflows.
Among similar metal impact libraries, Cinematic Metal distinguishes itself through material quantity and the intentional inclusion of unfinished recordings. This trades ease-of-use for depth, making it most valuable to professionals who build custom impacts as standard practice.
