About this plugin
The +10db Compressor V2 represents a meaningful refinement of Boz Digital Labs' plugin recreation of one of recording's most iconic compression units. Rather than chasing novelty, the developers partnered with David Bendeth to model a compressor that has shaped professional recordings for decades - most notably the drum sounds on classic rock records that defined the era. The original hardware unit commands prices exceeding $2,000 on the secondhand market, making this software implementation a practical alternative for studios without unlimited budgets.
The V2 upgrade brings tangible improvements over the original plugin. The sonic character remains faithful to the source hardware - delivering the same musical compression curve and harmonic coloration that made the original unit indispensable - but with refined controls and workflow enhancements. The included dry passthrough knob streamlines parallel compression techniques without requiring elaborate bus routing, a quality-of-life feature that acknowledges modern production practices.

This tool serves engineers who specifically need that particular compressor's sonic signature rather than a general-purpose dynamics processor. It excels on drums, vocals, and bass where the unit's gentle aggression and cohesive character become assets rather than compromises. The V2 performs admirably alongside Boz Digital Labs' complementary +10db Equaliser and full Channel Strip offerings, though it functions equally well as a standalone utility.
For mix engineers accustomed to the hardware original or those seeking its particular character, the +10db Compressor V2 removes the barrier between concept and execution without sacrificing sonic authenticity.
