About this plugin
Trivium Drums is a drum sampler built around the kit and performances of Trivium's Alex Bent, engineered and mixed by Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street Studios facility. The instrument captures a modern metal drum sound with considerable clarity and punch, suitable for rock and metal productions that demand professional results with minimal setup time.
The plugin ships with two signal paths: a processed version shaped by Bogren's mixing decisions, and a natural unprocessed option that preserves the raw recordings. The processed path delivers immediately usable drums, while the natural setting grants access to individual drum mic channels, bleed controls, parallel compression, and reverb, allowing engineers to apply their own mixing approach. This flexibility positions it between fully mixed drum libraries and raw multitrack recording.

The included 100+ MIDI grooves performed by Bent provide a foundation for authentic performance, avoiding the quantized feel common to drum software. Two proprietary tools address typical sequencing challenges: Anti-Machinegun intelligently varies fast consecutive hits to prevent the synthetic repetition that plagues programmed drums, and Auto Double Kick distributes rapid kick patterns across both pedals organically.
Recorded in a specially designed drum room with 23-foot ceilings and no parallel surfaces, the fundamental sound quality justifies the tool's positioning as a professional resource. The room's acoustic design is notably transparent, allowing drum character to dominate rather than heavy room coloration.
Trivium Drums competes alongside offerings from Native Instruments, Steven Slate, and BFD, distinguishing itself through Bogren's production credentials and the integration of performance-aware MIDI tools. It's best suited for producers working in metal, hard rock, or adjacent genres who need dependable, competitive drum sounds without extensive sample editing or programming labor.
