About this plugin
The BFD Sleishman Drums expansion brings a distinctive acoustic drum sound to Native Instruments' BFD3 platform, based on the boutique Sleishman free-floating drum system. These drums employ a patented suspension design that decouples the shell from conventional hardware mounting, allowing independent tuning of both drumheads for precise pitch control and extended resonance. The result is a sonic character marked by articulate attack, pronounced sustain, and responsive dynamic range that distinguishes these drums from conventionally mounted kits.
The expansion includes a four-piece Maple Classic configuration with a 20-inch kick drum, 10, 12, and 14-inch toms, and a bonus 14-inch snare drum sampled in both stick and rod textures at reduced detail. The kick is engineered for punchy articulation, captured with felt and rubber beater variations for tonal flexibility. The toms showcase the system's strength in sustain retention, supplemented by rim shot and rim click articulations that expand sound design possibilities within a drum kit context.

Sleishman Drums suits producers and engineers seeking organic kit tones with extended ring and separation, particularly those working in genres where natural decay and resonance define the drum sound. The system works seamlessly within BFD3's editing and mixing environment, offering the flexibility to process these carefully captured samples.
While positioned at a premium within the drum expansion market, the Sleishman kits deliver legitimate sonic differentiation rooted in hardware innovation rather than processing novelty. For studios already invested in BFD3, this expansion provides a coherent, high-resolution alternative to standard drum libraries.
