Rather than attempting comprehensive orchestral coverage, Ben Osterhouse has focused on what the library does exceptionally well - generating controlled, musically useful oscillations from recorded violin, viola, cello, and bass performances.

The core strength lies in its approach to sample triggering. Unlike traditional string libraries that map articulations across the keyboard, Oscillation Strings uses dedicated attack and decay controls that trigger entirely different sample sets at each position. This yields genuine phrasing variety rather than simple envelope manipulation. The inclusion of both legato note changes and portamento gliss options provides tonal flexibility for different harmonic contexts, while the polyphonic legato system - which selects samples based on overlap timing - adds sophistication to layered voicings.
