About this plugin
The AudioThing Kontakt Bundle is a comprehensive collection of 26 meticulously sampled instruments designed for Native Instruments Kontakt, spanning percussion, synthesis, strings, and sound design territories. Rather than chasing trendy digital aesthetics, AudioThing has focused on capturing the acoustic character and idiosyncratic behavior of real instruments alongside thoughtfully designed synthetic tools.
The bundle's strength lies in its sonic specificity. The tuned percussion section - encompassing frame drums, toy marimba, bells, wood pipes, glass pong, glockenspiel, and tank drum - delivers the kind of character that generic sample libraries miss. These aren't pristine, overprocessed hits but instruments with genuine resonance and harmonic complexity. The synth collection (GAK150, EKR490, Satellite, SX1500, Tapestation, TX101) takes a retro-forward approach, emphasizing warmth and organic modulation rather than clinical sound design.

This toolkit appeals primarily to composers, sound designers, and producers who work in cinematic, ambient, or experimental contexts where textural authenticity matters. The bowed harp and specialized keys (Organetta, toy instruments) suggest an aesthetic leaning toward whimsy and orchestral color rather than contemporary pop production.
The hundreds of presets and thousands of underlying samples provide experienced users with substantial raw material to manipulate, though the real value emerges when digging beyond presets into the Kontakt architecture itself. For engineers seeking vintage character and unconventional tones without excessive CPU load, this bundle represents a more intentional alternative to bloated megabanks. It's positioned firmly in the niche of quality over quantity.
