About this plugin
AudioThing's Halloween Pumpkins stands as a genuinely unconventional entry in the experimental sampling space, offering Kontakt-based instruments built from carefully captured pumpkin recordings. Rather than novelty sound design, the library presents a methodical approach to unconventional source material: dual-microphone capture using both large diaphragm condensers and piezo pickups yielded samples with distinct tonal characteristics suited to layering and textural work.
The 76-sample collection emphasizes bowed textures and percussive hits alongside more unusual elements like plucked rubber bands and a simulated transistor organ. The inclusion of a custom impulse response derived from the interior of a large pumpkin provides an effective convolution reverb tool, though its practical applications extend beyond Halloween-specific production. With up to six round robin variations per instrument across twelve Kontakt instruments, the library offers sufficient sample variation to minimize repetition in sustained use.

Halloween Pumpkins best serves sound designers and experimental electronic producers seeking organic, atypical source material for atmospherics, transitions, and hybrid percussion synthesis. The dual-mic approach yields both aggressive and subtle textures depending on mic selection and processing, making the library adaptable across genres rather than strictly seasonal in application.
The 76 MB footprint and 24-bit resolution suggest careful curation over comprehensive sampling, prioritizing usable, sonically distinctive material. While niche in scope, the technical execution and sample quality position it competently among specialty libraries for producers working with unconventional or found-sound aesthetics. The WAV exports provide flexibility beyond Kontakt integration.
