About this plugin
Fog Convolver 2 stands as a comprehensive convolution reverb platform that distinguishes itself through modular architecture and genuine stereo capability. AudioThing has rebuilt the plugin from the ground up, positioning it beyond basic impulse response playback by integrating modulation, multiband processing, and an impulse generator that enables synthesis of artificial acoustic spaces.
The plugin's technical foundation rests on five routing configurations - single, serial, parallel, parallel mix, and true stereo - allowing flexible signal flow between two independent impulse responses or matched stereo pairs. This flexibility proves essential for sound designers seeking complex, layered reverb characteristics rather than simple space simulation. Each impulse chain includes dedicated dual LFOs with 18 modulation destinations, a multimode filter with pre, IR, and post insertion points, and a five-band graphic EQ, providing surgical control over spectral character and temporal behavior.

The included impulse library spans 660+ responses across eight categories, from meticulously recorded acoustic spaces through vintage analog and digital processors to experimental sources like NMR spectroscopy data. This breadth appeals to both conventional mixing applications and sound design work.
Fog Convolver 2 occupies a middle ground between lightweight convolution reverbs and deeply tweakable platforms. It suits engineers requiring transparent acoustic simulation with extended processing capabilities, alongside producers pursuing unconventional textural territory. The impulse generator and drag-and-drop functionality lower entry barriers, while the modulation framework and routing flexibility reward deeper exploration. For users comfortable with convolution's inherent latency, Fog Convolver 2 delivers genuinely musical results without sacrificing creative control.
