About this plugin
Discord4 stands as Audio Damage's most comprehensive iteration of their renowned pitch shifter, a tool that has maintained relevance across three decades of production. Built on three distinct algorithms - Vintage (derived from the Eventide H910 and H949 topology), Clean (for contemporary shifting), and Granular (experimental textures) - Discord4 addresses nearly every pitch-shifting scenario a professional engineer might encounter. The distinguishing factor lies in buffer size control on the Vintage and Clean modes, allowing users to dial in the sweet spot between pitch coherence and artifact character. At extreme settings across the six-octave range, these controls unlock characterful aliasing and time-stretching artifacts that prove invaluable for sound design.
The signal architecture reflects serious studio thinking. Tempo-synced delays with cross-feedback routing, integrated bandpass filtering, and a reverb positioned in the feedback loop enable shimmer effects and complex layering without requiring external processing. The newly implemented FLFO (Flexible LFO) replaces previous modulation sources with substantially greater range and sophistication. Panorama controls govern stereo width of the wet signal, critical for maintaining mix coherence or creating dramatic spatial effects. Throughout the signal chain, soft saturation and limiting prevent digital distortion while adding harmonic warmth, making Discord4 equally suited to subtle vocal widening or extreme feedback experimentation.

Discord4 appeals to mixing engineers seeking transparent pitch correction, sound designers pursuing experimental textures, and producers building complex harmonic layers. Among contemporary pitch shifters, its combination of algorithm variety, real-time buffer manipulation, and integrated effects routing positions it as a distinctly capable instrument rather than a simple utility.
