About this plugin
Building Blocks represents a fundamentally different approach to music theory instruction for producers working in digital audio workstations. Rather than forcing traditional staff notation onto modern production workflows, the course anchors itself in the piano roll - the interface where most contemporary music actually gets made. This pedagogical choice eliminates the disconnect between learning and application that plagues conventional music theory.
The bundle covers the four foundational elements of electronic music composition: drum patterns, basslines, chord progressions, and melodies. What distinguishes Building Blocks is its streamlined methodology. It discards centuries of musical convention that holds little relevance for DAW-based creators, focusing instead on actionable knowledge that directly transfers to production. The interactive, game-style progression through an online DAW environment provides immediate context for each concept.

The course excels for producers who've felt overwhelmed by traditional theory's complexity or who struggled to connect abstract notation with their creative process. It's particularly valuable for those building fundamental production skills rather than advanced harmonic theory. The emphasis on writing original music throughout - not merely consuming information - ensures muscle memory develops alongside theoretical understanding.
Among comparable courses, Building Blocks occupies a distinctive position by prioritizing producer workflow over academic completeness. Its decision to center the piano roll rather than abstract notation proves pragmatic for the 21st century producer. The bundled format combining both levels offers comprehensive coverage without the fragmented approach of piecemeal instruction.
