About this plugin
Pigments 7 is a comprehensive software synthesizer that consolidates six distinct synthesis engines - subtractive, wavetable, granular, virtual analog, sampling, and percussion - into a single coherent instrument. This multiengine approach allows producers to layer fundamentally different sound generation methods within one patch, a capability that distinguishes it from single-engine competitors. The architecture supports deep modulation possibilities through drag-and-drop assignment to virtually any parameter, enabling the creation of evolving, complex textures that respond to MIDI input and internal LFOs.
The redesigned Play View represents a significant usability improvement, providing real-time visual feedback of waveforms, envelope stages, filter responses, and modulation activity. This transparency accelerates workflow by making the signal path immediately comprehensible, particularly valuable when reverse-engineering complex presets or troubleshooting unexpected behavior. The new creative filters - particularly Filter Rage with its feedback-driven distortion and Filter Ripple for phase-based intensity - expand the tonal palette beyond conventional filtering, enabling aggressive, characterful sound shaping.

Pigments 7 excels across contemporary production contexts, from trap and EDM to cinematic composition. The extensive preset library provides legitimate starting points rather than mere marketing window dressing, and the macro control system translates complex parameter sets into performance-ready controls. Integration with modern DAWs is seamless, and the customizable interface accommodates personal workflow preferences without sacrificing functionality. The inclusion of generative sequencing tools and flexible audio routing positions this as a credible choice for both sound design exploration and integrated production work, competing effectively with established alternatives like Serum and Wavetable.
