About this plugin
Augmented BRASS represents Arturia's refinement of hybrid sample-synthesis instrument design, building on established strengths in the Augmented line while addressing the particular demands of brass sound design. The instrument pairs multisampled brass recordings across orchestral, chamber, and degraded tape sources with dual synthesis engines: a virtual analog architecture for harmonic richness and a newer "Simpler" engine designed for percussive impacts and noise textures. This dual-engine approach allows producers to move fluidly between naturalistic brass timbres and heavily processed, synthetic interpretations without requiring external processing chains.
The Morph control represents the core sonic differentiator, enabling real-time parameter interpolation across sound morphologies rather than discrete preset switching. Combined with context-sensitive macro controls, this facilitates expressive performance and intuitive sound exploration, particularly valuable during composition and arrangement stages. The modulation workflow improvements reflect industry feedback regarding accessibility without sacrificing depth.

Augmented BRASS suits producers working across orchestral, film score, and electronic music contexts where brass articulation remains essential but sonic flexibility is paramount. The preset library leans toward modern cinematic textures rather than straight orchestral emulation, positioning the instrument as a sound design tool rather than a replacement for traditional sample libraries. Engineers accustomed to Arturia's other Augmented instruments will recognize the interface paradigm, though those unfamiliar with the approach may find the layered architecture initially complex.
Against comparable tools, Augmented BRASS occupies competitive territory with native brass modeling instruments and hybrid libraries, distinguishing itself through synthesis depth and morphing capabilities rather than raw sample fidelity.
