About this plugin
Clearmountain's Spaces is a convolution reverb plugin built around impulse responses captured from the physical chambers and rooms that have defined Bob Clearmountain's mixing aesthetic for decades. Rather than modeling reverb algorithmically, the plugin leverages actual recordings of acoustic spaces, delivering the particular sonic character of Clearmountain's preferred environments without the need to access them physically.
The plugin's architecture centers on three distinct processing stages. A three-band EQ and de-esser allow sculptural shaping of the input signal before it enters the reverb engine, while a pre-delay parameter provides temporal separation between dry and wet content. Most notably, Clearmountain's Spaces implements what Apogee calls Composite Spaces - the ability to layer and blend multiple impulse responses simultaneously, enabling the kind of personalized spatial blending that distinguishes Clearmountain's work across rock, pop, and R&B productions.

The impulse response library draws from celebrated spaces including chambers at MixThis studios and other locations central to Clearmountain's workflow. Factory presets distill decades of mixing experience into accessible starting points that balance sophistication with immediate usability.
Clearmountain's Spaces suits engineers seeking a reverb plugin with genuine sonic personality and established track record. It occupies territory between simple algorithmic reverbs and feature-dense convolution tools, prioritizing sound character and mixing workflow over exhaustive customization. For those familiar with Clearmountain's recorded output, the plugin provides direct access to the spatial environments that shaped countless hit records. It represents a straightforward approach to reverb selection: proven spaces, proven processing chain, proven results.
