About this plugin
Ample Bass TR6 is a meticulously sampled virtual instrument modeling the Yamaha TRBJP2, John Patitucci's signature six-string bass. It captures the instrument's warm, articulate character across 14 distinct playing techniques, from fingerstyle grooves to legato passages and expressive solos. The sampling depth extends across the full range, with support for drop tuning down to A0, providing flexibility for contemporary production contexts where extended low-end is essential.
The instrument's real strength lies in its playback engine and MIDI tools. Riffer 4 provides both piano roll and tablature editing, with intelligent string routing that automatically assigns notes to appropriate strings based on playable positions. Polyphonic legato and slide algorithms smooth transitions between notes convincingly, while the articulation editor allows fine-grained control over attack, release, and dynamics per note - critical for achieving natural phrasing rather than mechanical sequencing. Tab Reader 4 supports Guitar Pro files, streamlining workflows for producers working from existing charts.

The onboard amp simulation includes three amp heads and four cabinet options with four microphone positions per cabinet, offering tonal flexibility from direct to heavily colored sounds. The EQ, compressor, delay, and reverb provide essential shaping tools without requiring external processing.
Ample Bass TR6 suits jazz and fusion projects primarily, though its tonal character translates well to pop and R&B contexts requiring sophisticated bass work. For engineers seeking a six-string bass with strong MIDI control and playback intelligence, it stands as the most developed option in this category, prioritizing accuracy and usability over simplistic sampling approaches.
